The Amazing Thing About Sports

I just finished watching one EPIC tennis match which lasted for more than 5.5 hours.

Australian Open Men's Final.
Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal.

Not a tennis fan but this is one match that's worth 5.5hours watching.
It makes me like tennis (:

This is definitely the best tennis match I have ever watched.
I remember I watched one of the tennis final between Nadal and Djokovic last year, that was not even close to the excitement it brings in this one.
This is a long match, but not a boring one.

I dont support any tennis players, but I would prefer Nadal to win.
It is always great to see the World Number One being beaten isn't it? That explains why people always LOVE and CHEER whenever ManUtd lose. I shall talk about that later.

I would say it is a deserving win for Djokovic. No doubt world number one.
Even when he was having leg cramp at the fifth and last set, he fought back and won the game.
Same for Nadal. After disappointing second and third set, he fought so hard to pull through the fourth set and extended the game till the fifth set.

That kind of sports spirit is amazing. So infectious.

I always think that Nadal is a great athlete. Even though he lost, his thank you speech at the ceremony showed a lot of sportsmanship.
And I felt sad for him. He fought so hard for 5.5 hours, only to see the cup being held in opponent's hands.

"There cannot be two winners." Just that what Djokovic said.

Other than football matches, I dont mind watching tennis.
Especially matches with these world class players. It is not only the skills that I admire, but also the spirit they display.

Actually, I like watching almost all sports matches/games.
All but... golf? Cos the waiting time is much longer than you see the ball being hit.

I can tune in to sports channel all day long and watch WHATEVER they have.
Be it replay or live, I will just watch.
Sometimes I just like to leave the channel on when I do other things.
I just like to see SPORTS on the screen.

There is something very special about sports which I cannot explained.

Now about last night's FA Cup tie between Liverpool and ManUtd.
Honestly, I dont think that we deserved to lose like that.
It was pretty obvious that we were the much better team in that game.
But sometimes, we have no luck.

Shame on all the Liverpool fans who boo Evra throughout that 90min.
That speaks so much about your sportsmanship (and very much of the club's since they kept insisting that they are right.)

I have already calmed down now.
But whenever my team lost and got an undeserving draw, I would rather not talk to anyone and wish no one disturbs me.
At least not to tease me about the results.
I dont do that (at least not anymore) to anyone now even at times when I am happy about other teams loss. At most what I do is smile to myself and tweet it somewhere where my friends cant see.

When people do that to me, most of the time I will try to ignore.
Cos I know that whatever reply I give at the moment would not be rational and even I wouldnt wanna think of what are the words they may come out from me.
Definitely not something nice to the ears.

But good thing is, I would be alright by the next day. Most of the time.

Often I am amazed by how sports can bring people together.
My 婆婆 loves watching volleyball.
She is as crazy as me in football. Every day you will see her flipping through the newspaper looking at the TV schedule, taking note of volleyball match time.

My neighbour is also a volleyball fan. She used to play volleyball.
And sometimes, you will see her talking to my 婆婆 about volleyball.
Things like who is who... who is in which team, who is in the national team etc.

I think it is really weird, cos my 婆婆 is not someone who talks a lot.

Then there is Austin whom I always talk to about ManUtd.
He remembers that I love Ronaldo (the Brazil one). And I am shocked that he remembers.
I know he loves George Best.
I introduced to him Pele.
He told me about his trips to Old Trafford.

He is nine year old. My tuition kid -.-

There is Rishav who told me about this Australian Open Men's Final.
He is crazy about cricket and always talk to me about it.
So now though I still have not figured out how is the game being played, I have at least the basic knowledge of the difference between cricket and baseball.

If I were ever to get tied to a full time job, I would not complain if it is a sports company.
